# Meet the Team

Our team brings together leading medical, longevity, and integrative health professionals united by one shared purpose: to redefine how healthcare is delivered and experienced. Each specialist combines clinical expertise with a deep commitment to connection, compassion, and care.

Co-founder, Gastroenterologist & CEO

## Dr Omer Khalid

Dr. Omer Khalid is a co-founder and CEO of PHC and a Board-certified Gastroenterologist with advanced training in hepatology, internal medicine and obesity medicine. He’s dedicated his career to caring for people, not just treating diseases, but helping each patient to become a healthier, stronger version of themselves.

His work spans years of clinical practice and research, including extensive experience with clinical trials aimed at bringing better, evidence-based options to those who need them most. He believes that staying at the cutting edge of medicine isn’t just a professional responsibility; it’s a way to ensure his patients receive the very best care possible. What truly drives him though, is connection. He sees every patient as a partner on a shared journey towards better health. Whether he’s managing digestive conditions, supporting liver health or tackling weight and metabolic challenges together, his goal is always the same: to listen, to guide and to empower.

Dr Khalid is especially passionate about longevity and healthy ageing. His aim is to help people not only live longer but to live better, building habits and making choices that support lifelong vitality. It’s a privilege for him to be part of that journey with his patients every single day.

Co-founder

## Bilal Khalid

Bilal Khalid co-founded PHC with his brother Dr Omer Khalid after recognising a fundamental gap in modern healthcare — the absence of personalised, preventative, and truly patient-centred care.

His path here was shaped by three things: a lifelong passion for fitness - he is a qualified personal trainer - growing up alongside two brothers in medicine, giving him an early, honest view of both what healthcare can achieve and where it falls short, and an instinct for business inherited from both sides of the family with deep entrepreneurial roots. Together, they made founding PHC feel less like a decision and more like an inevitability.

Together, Bilal and Omer have carefully curated a team of leading practitioners and consultants across clinical, strategic, and operational disciplines - each chosen not only for their expertise but for their shared belief in a better model of care.

His background in law, finance, and business management gives him a strong foundation in strategy, operations, and compliance - skills he applies to building PHC into a model that is as well-constructed as it is well-intentioned. His long-term ambition is to help shift healthcare from reactive treatment to proactive, personalised wellbeing.

Functional Medicine Doctor & Executive Medical Director

## Dr Mayoni Gooneratne MBBS, BSc, MRCS, AFMCP

Dr Mayoni Gooneratne MBBS, BSc, MRCS, AFMCP is the Functional Medicine Medical Director at PHC, a leading educator, and a former NHS surgeon. As the founder of Human Health and SkinFit, she has developed rigorous clinical frameworks that combine medical science with personalised, lifestyle-led interventions—all delivered through a metabolic, root-cause lens. She is also the creator of Human Health Professionals, an educational membership supporting clinicians to elevate standards of sustainable, systems-based care.

In her role at PHC – Personalised Health Clinics, Dr Mayoni leads the clinical delivery of PHC’s functional medicine offering. Together, they are building a new model of care—one that puts time, trust, and tailored intervention at its heart. Her focus is simple: spending more time with people, listening properly, and creating personalised plans that fit real life.

A former colorectal and pelvic floor surgeon, her early academic research in pelvic neurology exposed critical gaps in women’s health understanding and access—insights that informed her transition into functional medicine and the establishment of Human Health in 2020. She now designs and delivers evidence-informed pathways that support women through hormonal transitions and the complex realities of modern metabolic and endocrine health.

Dr Mayoni is Vice President of the British College of Functional Medicine, a TEDx speaker, curator of the Medical Longevity Summit at CCR, chair of Future Patient, and an award-winning voice in the aesthetics and wellness sectors. Named Most Influential Speaker at CCR 2023, her work has been featured in Tatler, Cosmopolitan, Top Santé, Women’s Health and multiple peer-reviewed medical journals.

PR & Business Development Lead

## Lucy Dartford

Lucy Dartford is PR and Business Development Lead at PHC and a global PR strategist with more than 20 years' experience building visibility, credibility and influence for leading brands, founders and businesses. At PHC she leads earned media and partnership introductions, putting the clinic's work in front of the audiences and organisations best placed to benefit from it.

After a foundation at Wimbledon College of Art, early media experience at E4 and a degree in Promotion and Illustration from UCA, Lucy began her career at a high-profile PR agency in the City of London. She then moved in-house with a leading beauty brand, where she built a world-class media presence through television appearances, industry awards and sustained press coverage.

Demand from other brands led her to found her own agency, which she grew into an eight-person London team representing high-profile brands, founders and entrepreneurs. Today she consults alongside a trusted network of specialists, holds a select roster of legacy clients across health, wellbeing and longevity, represents some of the UK's leading entrepreneurs, and provides senior strategy to several global agencies on a white-label basis.

Lucy pairs big-picture strategy with a sharp instinct for what makes a story compelling to the media. Her campaigns have repeatedly achieved viral reach, and her focus is PR that goes beyond coverage to build authority, credibility and commercial momentum.

Where most people start

## Normal results, but not yourself?

Tired, even though your bloods are "normal"

Low energy starts with how your cells make it. A standard blood panel rarely looks there, so normal results can sit alongside feeling far from your best.

Journey

Step 4

Gut issues that keep coming back

Digestion, inflammation and metabolism are closely linked. Recurring bloating, reflux or discomfort is worth looking at as part of the whole picture.

Step 1

Perimenopause and menopause changes

Hormones and metabolism work as one system. As hormones shift, energy, sleep, mood and body composition can change with them, often faster than expected.

Step 2

Weight that won't shift, whatever you do

When weight resists everything you try, it is often a signal of how your metabolism is running, not a lack of effort. We look at what sits underneath.

Step 3

You feel fine and want to stay ahead

Feeling well is the best time to measure. A detailed baseline shows where you stand today and what to protect for the years ahead.

Journey

Step 7

Brain fog and poor focus

Your brain is one of the most energy-hungry organs in the body, so it is often among the first places metabolic strain shows up.

Journey

Step 8

Blood sugar, cholesterol or blood pressure creeping up

Rising numbers are early signals, not a verdict. This is the point where acting early makes the biggest difference.
